Crystal Ball

Well let's see what my swami has for us today. She says Milton pitches 7.1 innings of 5 hit 2 run ball. Gives up 2 solo shots. K's 6 walks only 1. Lopez, Dunn and Ross all homer. Castro makes a great play, Coffey pitches a scoreless 9th and the Reds win 5-2. Oh yeah, Griffey hits a PH 2 run hr in the 8th.

Narron needs an INTERVENTION.

It is obvious that Narron will keep letting Weathers pitch as long as he is available to him...he's addicted to it...

Will some of his close friends please hold an intervention with him after the game tonight and help him realize that Weathers sucks?

Please...someone in the organization needs to step in and DL or DFA Weathers for the sake of the team.

What was with using Valentin as pinchhitter in the pitcher's spot? We still had Griffey at that point and we used Griffey as the pinchhitter for Phillips... you know, Phillips. The guy who hits .347 and has an OPS over .900 with RISP. He also hits .433 with a .500 OBP and a .433 SLG in late innings of close games.

Actually, upon further review, these 9th inning WTF moves came courtesy of Bucky f'n Dent.

Why did Griffey hit?

Was Phillips hurt? Phillips with the highest batting average was pinchhit for? I missed the game and wanted to know because I'm mystified.

who knows but...

letting griffey pinch hit wasnt as dumb a move as bringing in weathers in a tie game. when he comes in, opponents score runs. he should only pitch when the reds have a lead of 10 runs or more. its not hard to figure out yet, narron hasnt realized it. or maybe he has and is just ignoring it hoping that if he continues to run less than mediocre pitching out there they will improve. its obvious it will not happen. as long as this bullpen stinks as bad as it has so far this year this team will not stay in contention. i know krivsky has to be trying to pull something together, hes a smart man. i just wish he would get rid of weathers...

Weathers

What will it take to get this guy off the roster? They sent Hammond and White packing yet Weathers is still taking up a roster spot. It's amazing. Narron continues to give this guy shot after shot and he blows each one. Get rid of him, he's not getting any better. He's awful. I had a sinking feeling when Steve said he was warming up. I remember this feeling. It's the same feeling I used to get when they brought on Chuck McElroy. It pisses me off...

Sounds great Caleb, but what really can be done? The whole pen needs blown up and rebuilt. That can't be done during the season. Anything that happens will just be tweaking... They need another SP too. It's all smoke and mirrors...

I'd bring up 2 young arms from the minors and I would make a trade that either brought a legit starter or a solid set up man. After the season everyone except Coffey would be put on notice that their job would depend on the 2007 spring training.

Mike Macdougal? He's on a minor league rehab assignment and could be back in the majors some time this week... I'd really like to see the Reds get him. We'd have some real firepower for the 8th and 9th innings with Macdougal and Coffey.

Less than a month...

Until the trade deadline, two months to get some help. What's the deal...is the front office waiting to make sure they are for real? Need bullpen help, pronto.

Also, I hate fans voting for the All Star game. Arroyo is the only Red that will make the trip to Pittsburgh...at least to play. With the pitching staff held together with scotch tape and Big League Chew, can he show up and not pitch? Ya know, just in case!

i used to look forward to the all star game. its too commercialized now. the voting needs to be rethought. its not fair. five of the al starters are red sox or yankees. its a joke...
