It seem's like I'm not the only one who thinks relievers are hard to come by
"If anything's weaker than the starting-pitching market right now, it's the relief market"
Which is why Krivsky may have had to overpay. But really it may seem like overpaying but the demand is high supply is low on relief pitchers. It's not like you can sign them cheaply anymore either - thank you Cubs/Yankees. Also read on it seems like he doesn't neccessarily hate the trade either.

Not Alone
The current makeup of the roster prior to July 13th was not getting it done, something needed to happen, or this team was not going to have a chance of making the playoffs. Help was needed and help is on the way.

Relievers
LHP Mike Venafro requested and got his release from the Reds' Triple-A team. Venafro was released by the Mets on March 30 and signed a minor league deal. He had a 2.45 ERA in 36 relief appearances for Louisville.
Not from the AP: Hmm. Your GM panics and dumps two solid bats for middle relief instead of rewarding solid relief pitching from within. So you leave. Smart move.
