Not too bad a start, so far.

Quit your crying Jones!!

Jones
Bob Brenly is saying he can't see the contact with Jones' bat . . . even though the replay he's showing us appears to show contact.

Brenly also hasn't stopped bad-mouthing the Reds defense and how Griffey didn't take of running hard after hitting his double.

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 6:34 PM EDT   0 recs

Brenly
Now Brenly is laughing about there aren't any establishments open in downtown Cincinnati on the weekends.  You're right Bob, but fuck you.

Well said
he is almost as bad/annoying as McCarver

Zambrano
I wanted to comment before the game about how I hope the Reds hitters are patient tonight.  Zambrano will shut the Reds down if he has them chasing after his pitches early in the count.  And so far, the Reds are hacking away at pitch number 1.

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 6:35 PM EDT   0 recs

Zambrano
Dude came in with 49 walks in 84 innings this season.  It's worth it just to see what his stuff is like before they start hacking.  I am adamant in my belief that this team is only good at scoring runs when they are patient, even moreso against a pitcher like Zambrano.

Griffey
That is as good as it gets right there boys and girls!

Claussen
Does everyone remember his last start when a hitter reached with two outs in every inning?  He's doing the same thing today.  Let's hope it doesn't catch up to him.

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 7:03 PM EDT   0 recs

Claussen
Is pitching "ok". They need to get him some runs before he has a meltdown.

Zambrano
did not want any part of Dunn. They need to get something out of this.

Crap
The guy is struggling and Sloth decides to swing away on the first pitch. Geez

C'mon Claussen hang in there

Claussen
Good changeup tonight.  Would you believe 3 hits, 6 Ks, and 0 BBs through 4.1?

Oops.  And just as I ws about to Post, Claussen walks his first.

Is it coming? Is this meltdown time? How do you walk the pitcher on 4 straight?

whew!! Way to get out of that mess. I know Pierre is fast but they have to turn that DP

DP
Did you see it?  Slow chopper.  Phillips turned it fast and made it close.  Maybe if Lopez charged it they would have had a chance.

Claussen
I'm worried this might be the inning for Pickles.

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 7:34 PM EDT   0 recs

whew
some brainy pitching to get Ramirez and good defense by Lope to get out of the inning.

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 7:37 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

yes I did
Phillips made a nice turn. But you are right, Lopez (once again) was slow on the play

Aurilia
And is that the third at bat this game that Aurilia went diving after a ball in the dirt, early in the count, to pop out?

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 7:42 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Walks
5 walks allowed and the Reds can't do anything with them. Zambrano is pretty tough tonight. Hopefully they'll pinch hit for him soon

by Caleb on Jun 10, 2006 7:44 PM EDT   0 recs

Zambrano
I'm not watching, but it looks like a typical Zambrano night.  No-hit stuff but a little erratic.  Who would have thought that Claussen would have more strikeouts and fewer walks thru 6 innings?

Well, I'm not following the game too much.  The Negotiator is on TNT and I can't resist watching it.  Thankfully Arroyo isn't pitching else I would have a hard time deciding which bad ass to watch.

by Slyde on Jun 10, 2006 7:46 PM EDT   0 recs

Negotiator
I can't remember . . . can you tell if someone is lying when they look to the left?  Or is it to the right?  I can never remember how that goes.

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 7:49 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Crap
if the retire the number 8 hitter they probably would have pulled Zambrano for a hitter. But nooooo, now he can stay in and bunt. Successfully I might add

Ugh!
Now we've got to deal with Todd Walker.

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 7:52 PM EDT   0 recs

crap
damn it. A good throw gets him. Hatteberg made a nice play to save a run. Walker is due

Of course, Phillips made a nice play to save the run too.

Rough with the Smooth
He made a nice stop and a terrible throw

wow
that ball three call was close!! It was a better pitch than several that have been called strikes tonight. Claussen pitched pretty darned good tonight and deserves a better fate than he probably is going to receive. Hopefully Steve can hold them.

That sucks Steve. 4-0 Cubbies. They way the Reds are not hitting means this game is over. Put it in the books the Reds lose, once again, to a terrible team

Exactly
Even from Narron. Why is he hitting McCrappen here? The guy hasn't done anything constructive in over a month. I hate like hell that they reached first place because it makes this B.S. even more painful

And just like that
with Pierre playing ten feet behind second base, McCraken lines one over his head for a 3B.  Now bring him in and cut the lead!

This team drives
me nuts!! How can they play so well on the road and then come home against a cleraly inferior team and look like a inner city high school team?

I think that is the first hit hes had since April.

And he hits a frickin Triple.

Sad thing is it should of been caught by Pierre.

wanna bet
that Phillips swings at the first pitch?

Joe Mays
This will be interesting.  Kinda throws like Paul Wilson.

by Brian B on Jun 10, 2006 8:21 PM EDT   0 recs

Zambrano
Throw at that guy's head!  He runs of the mound pumping his fist on your field.  Then he comes to the plate and swings the bat like he's Babe Ruth.

GRRRIFFFEEYYY!!!
Nice AB, to go form 0-2 to Full, then the bomb.

Atleast we arent gonna get shut out!

What's his deal?  He came into tonight diving at every slider thrown in his general direction.

Another sickening game.

Brenly and Tracer
Brenly, sad to say, is a former Bobcat.Plenty to do in Athens at night, but he should know Mainstrasse and Newport are the places to go when in Cincy.  Any self respecting Bobcat knows how to find the hip spots of any town they find themselves in.  I disown him.

Met Tracer at the Reds rally before the game, after seeing Pixar's "Cars" with the family.  Super guy, and I told him to continue the beer count on WLW after the game.  Good times.

The Reds
seem to lose concentration when playing lesser teams. The Cubs, Pirates, Astros, and Brewers are all teams that the Reds must win each series from if the want to stay close to the Cards. Hopefully Milton can make a good start tomorrow and the Cubs don't bring some one in to make their major leagur debut.

The last two games
The Cubs' 2 best pitchers not on the DL beat the Reds' 2 bottom- of-the-rotation pitchers. Not too surprising I guess.

Good Point
one is a certain Hall of Famer and the other has been lights out the past month or so. Oh well, there is always tomorrow. Does anyone know if the Cardinals won?

Phillips
He has to make that play in the 7th.  Another case, like last night, where a misplay that's not recorded as an error, may have cost the Reds.

by mattg on Jun 10, 2006 9:54 PM EDT   0 recs

Phillips
Phillips saved a run on that play by diving and coming up with it.  If there were a handful of things that lost it for the Reds, that play wasn't one of them.

by Brian B on Jun 11, 2006 12:16 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Phillips
Sure, he saved a run with the grab... but cost some runs with his throw. He's in the big leagues.  He has to make the throw too.  And it was key to the inning.

Cards losing
Caleb - Cards down 1 with 2 outs in the 9th.
