Game Thread: Game 26 vs. the Cardinals

TIME: 7:10 @ Great American Ball Park

REDS PROBABLE:
                   CARDINALS PROBABLE:
Bronson Arroyo (4-0, 2.34)        Mark Mulder (2-0, 3.53)

Second straight Battle for First Place.

To get the other side of the story, check out Viva El Birdos. The commenters over there have an irrational hatred of Arroyo. Which I totally understand, since there are many Cardinals I really can't stand. Jim Edmonds, I'm looking at you.

Also Scott Spiezio, what with that thing that's on his chin. Idiot.

Go Reds!

Krivsky and El Birdos
In case lboros pops over here, just want to let him know that Krivsky did not trade for Williams.  That was Dan O'Brien that did that.  I'd tell him myself but I don't feel like register just to say that.

So far, Krivsky has been weaving gold from straw and he hasn't really made any major mistakes.  Which is good because it's going to take him a year or two to clean up some of DanO's mess.

wow
Is that Hal McCoy or lboros?  He thought Krivsky was repsonsible for acquiring Womack too.

my bad fellas
thanks for clarifying that.

Amazing Krivsky
My first post reminded me that Red Menace wanted to see the Amazing Krivsky in full regalia.  I threw one together quickly...

Brandon
Arroyo, 12 pitches, 11 strikes.  Except for the double, that's that kind of first inning you like to see.

Aurilia
As long as he's not playing everyday I'm happy with him on the club.

Juan Encarnacion
Hits a no doubter home run. I renew my objections to fans throwing the ball back.

Ditto
In the river or keep it, that's what I say.

Pick him up Bronson!

How did Dunn
Score from first on a single?  Is Gamecast loopy?
Don't mind me...just pitching to contact, that's all...

Dunn scoring
Dunn doubled, Kearns singled him in.  Gamecast must be loopy.

Thanks...
I think Gamecast is having trouble with which hits and walks are soft and hard...

Right
I was about to propose that the Reds give Lopez a day off, since I think he has started almost every game.

wawrming up for the reds?

Arroyo
I don't know if anyone is in the pen, but I have a feeling the plan is to have Arroyo go all the way right now.  He just threw his 101st pitch to get Pujols out.

Arroyo
I smell a complete game.

He's looking home run all the time now.  Needs to stay within himself.

Yess!!!
Sweet.  The only thing that could make this better is if it happened on May 2.

Bronson Arroyo
maintains bad-ass status:

Nine innings, 109 pitches

IP  H  R  ER  BB  K  HR   ERA
B. Arroyo    9  4  1   1   3  4   1  2.06

by Slyde on May 1, 2006 9:34 PM EDT reply actions

Even more impressive
Was that this was the second time the Cards saw him, and they roughed him up the last time, plus he did this at home, against a lineup full of people who can take you deep at any time.

second time around
Agreed. He had two good starts against the Cubs, now a good second time against the Cards. That bodes well as the NL gets more looks at him.

And I shall strike thee down with great vengeance
Samuel L. Arroyo represents the CG. Be afraid, NL Central. The man is a bad mofo. It even says so on his wallet.

Arroyo
And he's sick of those mother f'in snakes on the plane!
