Game Thread: Game 10 vs. the Cardinals

REDS PROBABLE: CARDINALS PROBABLE:
Aaron Harang (1-1, 8.49) Chris Carpenter (1-0, 3.27)
Not really a knock against the Cubs, but I think the next three games will tell a little bit more of where the Reds will ultimately stand this year. The Cardinals have pretty much had their way with the Reds in recent years, and it'd be really nice to see that change.
Go Reds!

hey, the cubs swept the cards last weekend...
Since Harang has only pitched ok in his two starts (even the first one wasn't all that bad - the defense killed him), I'm looking for him to be dominating tonight.
I hope Carpenter's arm falls off.
Freel
um, is anyone else getting excited

Harang
And how long did it take Harang to get his first hit last year? That's quite a turn-around in itself.

Good Friday? Make that Great Friday!
The pitchers continue to hit! The past few years the Reds have had the worst hitting pitchers in the league. It's a minor point, as the bigger problem was their inability to pitch, but it's fun to watch the trend reverse.
Carpenter made Adam Dunn look foolish all night. The worst was with Freel on 3rd with 1 out (3rd inning?). Oh well. That'll happen.
Edwin was overmatched as well, but he did turn in a terrific at bat in the 6th. Down 0-2 he drew a walk. Play him everyday. Sometimes you just need to throw the baby in the pool to see if it will swim.
Savvy fans know a player's offensive peak is usually at age 27, but few realize defensive abilities peak even earlier. Gold Gloves are based on good reputations and are usually given out well past the time when a player's defense has lapsed. Which brings us to Jim Edmonds. He looked godawful. And he blew it at the plate too. Always nice to see an asshole on a rival fitted for goat ears.
Kearns continues to look good at the plate. He should have been batting cleanup instead of Eddie E.
The view from beyond the outfield in the new park is great.
The Reds beat the consensus best team in the league, in their house, when their ace was on the mound. Savor it! I'm going to go out and drink so much I'll be dead for three days.
Reds
But thank God for Harang's "timely" single. The Reds would have scored more if Dunn weren't trying to keep his should in, head down, and drive those pitches to left field. Doesn't that count at least for some runs?
