Wow..
I don't remember that one. Anyone got a date when that game happened?

If I recall correctly...
...it was something like July 3, 1989.  Possibly a year earlier or later, but I'm pretty sure that was it.  It was the same evening my buddy threw a pack of firecrackers in this kid's car, setting off a three-year feud.

Retrosheet says I'm almost right...
The July 3 game doesn't show Dykstra as having a base hit.

It was actually July 5:

http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07050PHI1989.htm

PHILLIES 10TH: FRANCO REPLACED BROWNING (PITCHING); Jeltz
singled to shortstop; Dernier struck out while Jeltz stole
second; Dykstra singled to right [Jeltz to third, Dykstra to
second (error by O'Neill)]; Jeltz stayed on 3rd despite
O'Neill drop kick of ball to infield; Herr was walked
intentionally; Reed allowed a passed ball [Jeltz scored
(unearned)]; 1 R, 2 H, 1 E, 2 LOB.  Reds 2, Phillies 3.

Yeah, Benzinger wasn't on the '88 team.

I remember watching the game on TV!
I've told my son about it a number of times, so it was great to be able to show him the film. Thanks!

BTW, does anyone know who the PTBNL was in the Phillips deal?

PTBNL's
It seems like we're missing a lot of the PTBNL info. Who'd we get for Cody Ross and Jason LaRue? Anybody know where to find all these transactions?

by pw on Dec 29, 2006 5:24 PM EST up reply actions

PTBNL
From BR.com: April 7, 2006: Brandon Phillips traded by the Cleveland Indians to the Cincinnati Reds for a player to be named later. The Cincinnati Reds sent Jeff Stevens (minors) (June 13, 2006) to the Cleveland Indians to complete the trade.

The LaRue PTBNL has not been named yet, as far as I know.  I think they have like 60 days (or 6 months, can't remember which) to identify the PTBNL.

Paul O'neill video
What I want to know is, what was the Duane Kuiper play that came up after that.  Surely it paled in comparison.

I'm going to treat this as an open thread
Congrats to Officer Dibble for winning the RR Fantasy Football league. I would have put this on the fantasy diary way down on the list, but I guess there's a statute of limitations for posting now.

Thanks!
Appreciate the love, RM...I was beginning to wonder if anyone had noticed at all.

The game between Kyle and I was a good one...we each scored more than anyone else in the league...I just happened to have Marc Bulger's 4 TDs on my side that week.

Turns out that I was happy to throw myself on the Bulger grenade for the good of the league! :)

I think we were all just so shocked that
someone beat Kyle! ;)

I wish Opening Day were here...
I'm growing impatient!

I got a cool Reds jacket for Christmas, and I can't wait to wear it to those chilly april and may games!
