Anderson Machado
I saw in the Enquirer this AM that on July 5, Machado's rehab ends, and we either have to put him on the 25-man, or expose him to waivers.
I assume we're going to have to bring him up. I know that would have been the consensus at the beginning of the season. But with Lopez coming along, maybe...?
Thoughts?

I have to wonder if exposed to waivers, if he doesn't just pass right thru.
I also believe, that GM's have the power to, just one, completely outright a player to the minors. That is, removing them off the 40 man and sending them straight to the minors without sending them thru waivers. I believe you can only do this once with the player, after they are out of options, and never again.
O'Brien did it twice last season with Jermaine Clark and Jason Romano.
Waive Away
If some franchise claims him off the wire, clearly they must have worse issues than the Reds...if that's even conceivable.
Baseball-savvy Front Offices know that one can find good fielding, no-hit shortstops willing to play for the major league minimum faster than they can say San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic.
Oops. Does not apply to the Cincy Zip Code, does it?
Given the track record of the invertebrates that constitute the Reds organization, they may well have a "Roster Spot Panic Attack" and bring him up regardless. Not helping is that Machado is one of DanO's boys/acquisitions, either.
